Our Story

Two of the UK’s most accomplished Jazz and Hip Hop dance artists, Grounded Movement directors, Temujin Gill and Sunanda Biswas, have been at the forefront of new dance development for over two decades. Four original works, Cutting the Rug, Skindeep, Rhythm Breakdown and Club Universal created for their first company Temujin Dance.

A selection of performances from Temujin Gill and Sunanda Biswas extensive repertoire. Edited by Roswitha Chesher.

In 2010 they were commissioned to create, Lindy Break, a new work that launched  Greenwich Dance’s 2010 Big Dance programme. This duet was a play between two African derived dances, Lindy Hop and Breaking, drawing on the similarities and difference of form. Lindy Break marked the beginning of a journey that, in the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony, brought together some of the UK’s best physical innovators for the first time, from the worlds of Hip Hop, Street and Tap to Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Acrobatics, Puppetry and Aerials. It would also eventually lead to the establishment of Grounded Movement in 2013.
